Every Streaming Price in 2026: What Changed and What You Are Actually Paying

August 26, 20268 min read

Streaming prices moved again in 2026, and they did not move evenly. Netflix raised every plan in March. Paramount+ went up in January. Apple TV+ jumped 30% in a single step last August and has stayed there.

Below is what each service costs in the United States as of August 2026, what it cost before, and when it changed. Every figure is a monthly price.

Every service, every tier

ServiceWith adsAd-freeTop tier
Netflix$8.99$19.99$26.99
Disney+$9.99$18.99—
Hulu$7.99$17.99—
HBO Max$10.99$18.49$22.99
Peacock$10.99$16.99—
Paramount+$8.99$13.99—
Apple TV+—$12.99—
Prime Video$8.99$11.99—

Peacock also sells a cheaper Select tier at $7.99 with a limited library, and Prime Video is included with an Amazon Prime membership at $14.99.

What went up, and when

Netflix — March 2026, every plan

Netflix raised all three US plans in late March 2026, its second increase in roughly two years:

  • Standard with ads: $7.99 → $8.99
  • Standard: $17.99 → $19.99
  • Premium: $24.99 → $26.99

Extra member slots went up too — $6.99 to $7.99 with ads, $8.99 to $9.99 without. New members paid the new rate immediately; existing members were moved across in the following weeks.

If you share a Premium plan with two extra members, that household went from $42.97 to $46.97 a month, or an extra $48 a year, without anyone choosing anything.

Paramount+ — January 2026

Essential went from $7.99 to $8.99 and Premium with Showtime from $12.99 to $13.99, effective 15 January 2026.

Apple TV+ — August 2025, and it was a big one

Apple TV+ went from $9.99 to $12.99, a 30% increase in one move. It remains the only major service with no ad-supported tier, so there is no cheaper option to fall back to.

Disney+ and HBO Max — October 2025

Both raised prices in October 2025. The Disney bundles moved again as well: Disney+, Hulu and ESPN Select went from $17 to $20 with ads, and $27 to $30 ad-free.

The year-over-year picture

Comparing like-for-like tiers against 2025 prices:

Plan20252026Change
Netflix Standard (ad-free)$17.99$19.99+11.1%
Netflix Premium$24.99$26.99+8.0%
Netflix with ads$7.99$8.99+12.5%
HBO Max ad-free$16.99$18.49+8.8%
Apple TV+$9.99$12.99+30.0%
Paramount+ with ads$7.99$8.99+12.5%

Peacock and Paramount+ restructured their tiers during this period, so some comparisons across their line-ups are not like-for-like and are left out rather than forced.

The pattern is consistent: increases clustered between 8% and 12.5%, well ahead of general inflation, with Apple TV+ as the outlier.

What a normal stack costs now

Four ad-free services — Netflix Standard, Disney+, HBO Max and Apple TV+ — comes to $70.46 a month, or $845.52 a year.

The same four on ad-supported tiers, where available, comes to $42.96 a month, or $515.52 a year. Apple TV+ has no ad tier, so it stays at $12.99 in both figures.

That is a $330 annual difference for the same content with advertising breaks. Whether that trade is worth it is personal. What is worth noticing is that most people have never made the choice deliberately — they signed up ad-free years ago when it cost considerably less, and the price has climbed underneath them.

The part that costs more than the price rises

A March 2026 survey of 1,272 US adults by Self Financial found the average person holds 3.4 active paid subscriptions and spends $35.03 a month on them.

It also found that 59.9% had at least one subscription going unused every month, averaging 2.6 unused subscriptions per person, and that 70% had forgotten to cancel a free trial and been charged for it. Among those affected, 37.8% cut back on other spending as a result and 21.7% borrowed money from relatives.

Put next to the price table, that reframes things. A $2 rise on Netflix Standard costs $24 a year. One forgotten $18.99 subscription costs $227.88. The increases are visible and annoying; the forgotten subscriptions are invisible and cost far more.

Three things worth doing today

  1. Check what tier you are actually on. Many people pay for 4K Premium on a household that only ever watches on two screens. Netflix Premium to Standard saves $84 a year.
  2. Look at annual billing only where you are certain. It usually saves money, but it converts a monthly decision into a yearly one — which is exactly how forgotten subscriptions get expensive.
  3. Write down every renewal date. Not the price — the date. Price rises arrive with an email. Renewals arrive silently.

That last one is what Subscription Freedom automates. Forward your receipts to a private address and we read the merchant, amount and renewal date out of each one, then tell you before you are charged. No bank connection, and we never sign in to your mailbox — your own mail rules decide what reaches us.
